Abstract

When designing the new cover of Meteoritics, Mr. Larry Toschik, artist in the Arizona State University Bureau of Publications, asked if we could find a hieroglyph for meteorite. Find it, we did, through the kindness of Dr. Lanny Bell. Dr. Alpher explains the etymology. We are indebted to Messrs Toschik, Bell and Alpher for their interesting contributions spanning the evolution of intellectual man from before the iron age to the moon landing.
