Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of scleral buckling surgery under microscope for the treatment ofno-tear retinal detachment. Methods It was a retrospective study.Eighteen eyes of 18 patients withno-tear retinal detachment were treated with scleral buckling surgery under the microscope. The tear in serrated edge was found during the operation. Twelve cases underwent scleral buckling combined with scleral encircling and 6 cases received scleral buckling only. All cases received scleral tapping. At the end of the surgery 14 eyes with intraocular hypotension underwent intravitreal tamponade of gas. Results Postoperative follow-up for 6 months, 17 eyes were cured upon the operation with completely retinal reattachment(94.4%), 1 eye was successful with retinal reattachment after a second vitrectomy operation. No intraoperatively or postoperatively serious complication occurred. Conclusion Scleral buckling surgery under microscope in the treatment ofno-tear retinal detachment is simple, safe and effective.
