Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy and complications of sacral block plus propofol for urinary surgery in children. Methods 80 ASAIpatients aged 3 months to 3 years undergoing urinary surgery were randomly assigned to receive sacral block plus propofol for continuous sedation (study group,n = 40) or intravenous injections of ketamine plus propofol for general anesthesia (control group,n = 40). Peranaesthesia, skin incision, intraoperative and postoperative systolic pressure (SBP),diastolic pressure (DBP),heart rate (HR),respiration (R),blood oxygen saturation (SPO2),time to consciousness recovery, surgical duration, and postoperative adverse reactions within 8 hours were noted. Results SBP,DBP,and R after induction and during surgery were significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05);and time to consciousness recovery was shorter in the study group(P<0.0l).Conclusions Sacral block plus propofol is safe and effective in urinary surgery for children and has fewer complications.
