Abstract

Refractory angina pectoris (RAP) is a growing clinical problem [1]. Prognosis in these patients is poor and conventional medical therapy is frequently inadequate for symptom relief. The aim of this pilot prospective, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to test the hypothesis that low-energy extracorporeal shockwave myocardial revascularization (ESMR) can reduce clinical symptoms and improve exercise tolerance in patients with RAP.
