Abstract

The most important effect of torsion on bars twisted with large angles of twist is represented by the change of their initial geometry. Concerning this aspect, previous experimental investigations have presented many and different results obtained in the study of bars having circular cross-sectional shapes. The present paper analyses the effects of torsion on the geometry of bars having square and rectangular cross-sectional shapes.
