Abstract

The paper presents some preliminary studies on the effect of processing parameters on the sinterability, microstructures and dielectric properties of glass ceramics in the cordierite phase field. It is found that the nature of the precursors have a very marked effect on the densification, microstructures, and dielectric properties of the sintered components. The addition of about 5% titania to a cordierite composition reduces the densification and lowers the overall dielectric permittivity. The results are presented and discussed in terms of the microstructures evolved.
