Abstract

Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effects of Shenbawei compound capsule on adriamycin-induced nephrotic syndrome in rats. Methods: Ninety SD rats were randomly divided into six groups:normal control group, model group, piperazine ferulate tablet group,Shenbawei compound capsule low, middle and high(150,300,600 mg/kg) dosage groups. The nephrotic syndrome model was established by intravenous injection of adriamycin. The rats in normal control group and model group were given 0.9% sodium chloride and the rats in the other groups were given piperazine ferulate tablets(200 mg/kg) or Shenbawei compound capsule 24 h after the model was established. After a three-week treatment, the concentrations of urine protein, free hemoglobin, plasma creatinine, urea nitrogen and triglyceride were examined, general condition of rats and pathological changes of renal tissues were observed, the pathology score of renal tissues and renal index were calculated. Results: Compared with the normal control group, the concentrations of urine protein, free hemoglobin, plasma creatinine, urea nitrogen and triglyceride in model group were increased, the edema and vacuolar degeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells were observed in pathological study. These results indicated that the nephrotic syndrome model was established. After a three-week treatment with Shenbawei compound capsule, the weight and urine volume were significantly increased, the renal index, the concentrations of urine protein, free hemoglobin, plasma creatinine, urea nitrogen and triglyceride were all decreased compared with the model group(P0.05 or P0.01).The edema and vacuolar degeneration of renal tissues of rats treated with Shenbawei compound capsule were also relieved.Compared with the model group and piperazine ferulate tablet group, the pathology scores of renal tissues of rats in Shenbawei compound capsule high dosage group were significantly decreased(P0.05).Conclusion: Shenbawei compound capsule has therapeutic effects on nephrotic syndrome in rats.
