Abstract

The dispersion characteristics of a helix-loaded waveguide are examined to determine the effects of plasma filling. Analytical results are presented in the form of dispersion diagrams for various parameters for the helix mode in the limit when the outer conducting wall approaches the helix surface. They show a significant dependence on omega p and cos phi , where omega p and phi are the density of the background plasma and the pitch angle of the helix respectively.
