Abstract

An investigation was made on the effects of neutron irradiation on the abrasion hardness and cleavage properties of diamond. Irradiation reduced the hardness by factors between 1.2 and 2.0, and the cleaved surfaces in irradiated diamonds were very different from the usual cleaved surfaces. (D.L.C.)
