Abstract

Objective To study the effects of matrine on the proliferation of rabbit lens epithelial cells (RLECs) in vitro. Methods RLECs were primary culture. After the second generation of RLECs were incubated for 24 hours, we added different concentrations of matrine for 24 hours. The cell proliferation of RLECs was determined by MTT assay. Results The inhibitory rates of RLECs proliferation were increased in dose-dependent ways by matrine in vitro, Conclusions Matrine could effectively inhibit the proliferation of RLECs, and it might have broad prospects in the prevention of posterior capsular opacification. Key words: matrine ; rabbit lens epithelial cells ; posterior capsular opacification, MTT assay
