The effects of holistic nursing in the non-invasive ventilation treatment for the pa-tients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease combined with respiratory failure

Abstract

Objective To analyze the effects of holistic nursing in the non -invasive ventilation treatment for the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （ COPD） combined with respiratory failure.Methods A total of 80 cases of COPD combined with type II respiratory failure patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group .40 cases were included into each group.The patients in the two groups were treated with non -invasive respiratory mechanical ventilation treatment.The patients in the control group were cared with the routine nursing measures , while the patients in the observation group were cared with the nursing measures based on the holistic nursing mode.The therapeutic effects and adverse reactions of the patients in the two groups were observed and compared .The compliance and satisfaction of the patients were investigated.Results In the observation group and the control group , 37 cases （ 92.5%） and 28 cases （70%） adhered to accept the non -invasive ventilator until discharged , the proportion of the observation group was significant-ly higher than that of the control group （P〈0.05）;in the two groups, 2 cases （5%） and 10 cases （25%） could not tolerate non -invasive ventilator , tracheal intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation were applied , the proportion of the observation group was significantly low-er than that of the control group （ P〈0.05 ）;the incidences of crushed facial skin , dry mouth in the control group were higher than those in the observation group （ P〈0.05 ）;the patients’compliance questionnaire score and satisfaction questionnaire score of the observation group were higher than those of the control group （ P〈0.05 ） .Conclusions In the course of using non -invasive ventilator in treatment of COPD combined with respiratory failure , the application of holistic nursing mode can improve the curative effects , reduce the proportion of the pa-tients who would be treated with the invasive mechanical ventilation , reduce the incidence rate of adverse reactions , improve treatment com-pliance and satisfaction.
