The Effects of Global Saemaul Spirit and Global Competence on Civic Engagement as a Global Citizen: the Mediating Effect of Social Responsibility

Abstract

이 연구는 글로벌새마을정신과 글로벌 역량이 세계시민참여에 영향을 미치는데 있어 사회적 책임의 매개효과를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 K도에 소재한 한 종합대학의 1~4학년 대학생 300명이다. 수집된 자료는 기술통계와 상관관계, 구조방정식 모형으로 통계처리하여 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과에 따르면, 글로벌새마을정신은 세계시민참여에 직・간접적인 영향을 미치며, 사회적 책임의 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 확인되었다. 글로벌 역량이 세계시민참여에 미치는 직접적인 영향은 있으나, 사회적 책임을 통한 매개효과는 유의하지 않은 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 대학생의 글로벌 역량이 사회적 책임 에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 확인되었다.The purpose of this study is to examine the structural relationship of variables affecting civic engagement as a global citizen. Specifically, this study focused on analyzing the mediating effects of social responsibility among global Saemaul spirit, global competence and global civic engagement. The subjects were 300 undergraduates of an university located in K province. The structural relationships and the mediating effects among variables were analyzed using a structural equation model. As a results, firstly, global Saemaul spirit has significant direct and indirect effects on global civic engagement. Also, the mediating effect of social responsibility is significant between global Saemaul spirit and global civic engagement. Secondly, global competence has significant direct effect on global civic engagement, but social responsibility has not significant mediating effect between global competence and global civic engagement. And global competence of students has no statistically meaningful effects on their social responsibility.
