Abstract

Although exposure to physical environmental stressors poses risks for all human beings, African Americans, and particularly African American children, are disproportionately exposed to such stressors. This paper primarily reviews representative literature on the impact of various physical environmental stressors upon African American children. Future research directions and recommendations for environmental intervention at the community, legislative and governmental levels are discussed.
