Abstract

This study was carried out in order to determine the effects of the creative drama method used in the teaching of a unit in the fourth grade social studies curriculum on the attitudes of the students towards the social studies course according to their learning styles and to determine the opinions of the students at the end of this process. The research was conducted according to mixed design. Two classrooms were selected as experiment and two classrooms as control groups by random selection method. There are 42 students in the experimental group and there are 39 students in the control group. Data collection tools are Marmara Learning Styles Scale and Attitude Scale for Social Studies Course and written opinions were collected to reveal the views of the fourth grade students. Data were processed by using frequency, percentage values covariance analysis and content analysis was performed on the interview data. In the findings, it was concluded that students developed positive attitude towards creative social studies course, creative drama was effective in learning, and created positive emotions, they acquired knowledge on creative drama, and became aware of concepts regarding communication and interaction.
