Abstract
The effects of large doses of human chorionic gonadotropin administered for long periods of time were studied in a case of Klinefelter's syndrome exhibiting the Barr nuclear chromatin body as in the female. There was an evident relationship between the histologic changes in the testes (Leydig cell hyperplasia and signs of active secretion) and the increase in the urinary excretion of 17-KS and estrogens. The mammary tissue showed an increase in the number of ducts with papillary projections lined by multilayered hyperplastic epithelium. Urinary gonadotropin excretion remained unchanged.
