Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to examine how the payment or receipt of child support affected stepfamily adjust- ment. Other information about changes in child support and child support compliance after remarriage was obtained. Data from 74 remanied individuals who were either paying or receiving child support were used. The results indicated that for those that reported changes in child support, payers reported paying more while receiv- ers reported receiving less child support. Very few variables differ- entiated those who received child support from those whose ex- spouse was noncompliant. Findings further showed that child support had no significant effect on stepfamily adjustment.
