Abstract

Summary In this paper, the author describes a quasi-experimental study conducted as part of an evaluation program of the Dade County Public Schools' Adoptive Grandparent Program. The study involved the participation of selected 5th and 6th grade students and residents of a nursing home. It was designed to determine the extent to which involvement in the program influenced the pupils' sense of self-esteem, and their attitude toward the elderly, as well as the elderly's level of depression, self-esteem and attitudes toward aging.
