Abstract

Review Objective The objective of this review is to synthesise the best available evidence on the effectiveness of web-based programs on the reduction of childhood obesity in school age children. Types of Participants This review will consider studies that include school age children regardless of gender, ethnicity, or national origin from 4-18 years of age. Types of Interventions This review will consider the use of web-based programs including, but not limited to the Internet, social networking media, Internet mobile applications, and email aimed at the reduction of obesity among school age children. Types of Outcomes The outcomes to be considered in this review include measures of overweight and obesity among school aged children as measured by valid and reliable measurements including but not limited BMI, body weight, and/or waist circumference.
