Summary

Introduction

Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) is one of the most common lower leg injuries in sporting populations[1]. As the condition progresses, pain may occur constantly throughout exercise[8], at rest and at night, causing significant distress and affecting quality of life[2, 5, 9]. Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) is one of the most common lower leg injuries in sporting populations. It accounts for between 6%-16% of all running injuries, and up to 53% of lower leg injuries in military recruits.
