Abstract

Stunting was a condition of growth failure of a person with chronic nutrition which has an impacted on linear growth.1 The impact of stunting includes experiencing physical development problems, namely stunted or having a lower height than other children of the same age. In addition to physical impacts, there were also impacts that caused long-term psychosocial disorders and delay in brain development which had an impacted on the productivity of stunting individuals. Purpose: This research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Piring Makanku promotion media in increasing knowledge, perception, intention and practice as an effort to prevent stunting. Methods: This research was a quasi experimental research with a pretest-postest design. The sample in this research was 36 respondents (aged 15-19 years) chosen with total sampling technique and was divided into treatment and control groups. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Sign Rank and it was found that there was a significant difference between before and after the intervention was given to the treatment group. The analysis used Kruskal Wallis and it was found that promotional media Piring Makanku and a lesson, as well as the Piring Makanku promotion media were effective in increasing the respondents' knowledge, perception, intention and practice. Result: Based on the results of the mean rank in the Kruskal Wallis test, the variables of knowledge, perception and intention showed that the intervention group A was more effective than the intervention in treatment group B, and treatment group B was more effective than the control group. Conclusion: The promotional media for Piring Makanku has proven to be effective in increasing knowledge, perception, intention and practice related to balanced nutrition and stunting.
