Abstract

AbstractCatches from four commercially‐available fly traps were compared in the Perth metropolitan area over a 4‐week period in February/March 1989. The traps were set up according to the manufacturers’ instructions in 24 backyards. Every 7 d the traps were emptied and all the insects were identified and counted. Three of the four traps were successful in catching large numbers of blowflies, bush flies and house flies. Other insects representing 24 families were also caught in these traps.
