Abstract

The effective velocity distribution of atoms which make contributions to the fluorescence signal in an atomic beam in an optically pumped cesium beam frequency standard with a sharp angle incidence of probing laser light has been calculated. It shows a narrow velocity distribution. With a narrow effective velocity distribution the accuracy of the evaluation of the cavity phase dependent frequency shift and second order Doppler shift can be improved.
