Abstract

Stochastic simulation is used to examine the economic feasibility of freshwater crayfish Cherax destructor production in Australia. Results are contrasted with those obtained from a deterministic analysis. Potential variability in yield and price reduces the expected internal rate of return from 23.7% to 15.3%. Information on the riskiness of the proposed project, measured as the probability that the internal rate of return will exceed certain minimum levels, is provided.
