Abstract

The weighting process may change the color appearance of silk. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the effect of weighting with methyl methacrylate (MMA) on the color appearance of silk fabric using the response surface method. For this purpose, a CCD design was used to investigate the effect of methyl methacrylate monomer concentration and dye concentration on color appearance and percentage of weight gain of silk fabric. Analysis of variance, response surface, and contour plots of the colorimetric characteristics of the weighted silk fabric show that the methyl methacrylate concentration has a significant effect on color parameters such as L*, a*, b*, C*, and hue angle of the weighted silk fabric. The results indicate that the weighting process changes the color of silk fabric.
