Abstract
With the advantages of small size and low cost RSSI-based ranging and positioning technology is suitable for the large-scale applications or indoor environments. Whereas multipath structure of indoor radio channel caused by complex indoor environment, as well as the far field conditions of antennas are not feasible due to the short propagation distance, have a strong impact on indoor positioning accuracy. The reflection caused by wall is inevitable in indoor environment. Two-ray tracing model is proposed to analyze the effect of wall reflection on indoor radio propagation channel. It indicates that the closer from the wall, the greater the impact of the wall reflection is with respect to the LoS. Experimental results show that the influence of near-wall reflection on location accuracy should be taken into account when the RSSI-based technology is utilized for indoor location.
