Abstract

The problem of male infertility is often associated with oxidative stress which can be prevented by using a combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, Glutathione and Zink. Introducing the combination is more effective than the presence of a single unborn person. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of giving a combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione and zinc to the number of sertoli cells and leydig cell counts in male white wistar rats exposed to cigarette smoke. This study uses an experimental method with the design of the Post Test Only Control Group Design. The study subjects numbered 36 rats which were randomly divided into 6 groups. Group K (+) is exposed to cigarette smoke, group P.I is given a combination of vitamin C + vitamin E + glutathione + zinc, P.II is given a combination of vitamin C + vitamin E + glutathione, P.III is given vitamin C + vitamin E, P.IV given glutathione + zinc. Each dose is vitamin C 9 mg / day, vitamin E 1.8 IU / day, glutathione 1.8 mg / day and zinc 0.2 mg / day. All groups were given exposure to cigarette smoke 3 cigarettes / day except for the K (-) group of normal groups. The 22nd day study carried out a side effect to find out the number of leydig cells and the number of sertoli. Post-Hoc LSD test showed P.I had the highest effect in increasing the number of sertoli cells. The results of the Mann-Whitney test also showed that P.I had the highest effect in increasing the number of leydig cells. In conclusion, the administration of a combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione and zinc had an effect on the number of sertoli cells and leydig cell counts in white rats which were exposed to cigarette smoke. The problem of male infertility is often associated with oxidative stress which can be prevented by using a combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, Glutathione and Zink.
