Abstract

The electrochemical and the thermal properties of carbon fiber (CF) as anodes in lithium ion batteries have been evaluated under the influence of cyclic carbonates such as vinylene carbonate (VC) as an additive for the electrolyte comprising ethylene carbonate (EC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), and LiPF6. The concentration of the VC additive has been varied (0.5wt%, 1wt%, 1.5wt% of VC in EC-EMC) and the electrochemical performance as well as the effect of this varied concentration on the thermal properties has also been investigated.
