Abstract

Portable glucose meters are commonly used in the hospital as well as in the homes of patients with diabetes to measure glucose concentrations. Many factors affect the quality of results using these meters. Of these, the effect of inappropriate storage and exposure to light and moisture of reagent strips has not been thoroughly investigated. In this study, we exposed strips in capped and uncapped vials to five inappropriate storage conditions. We found that uncapped vials and exposure to cold resulted in the rapid deterioration of reagent strips
