Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of using the cooperative learning strategy on the skills achievement of students studying soccer skills at faculty of sport science at the university of Jordan. The researcher used the quasi-experimental approach because it is relevant to the nature of the study. The sample of the study consisted of (39) male and female students from soccer course (2) students. Two sections were selected intentionally. The first section (the control group) consisted of (14) female students and (6) male students learnt by the traditional strategy. The second section (the experimental group) consisted of (9) female students and (10) male students learnt by cooperative strategy. The results of the study showed a positive effect for the traditional learning strategy and the cooperative learning strategy in skills achievement for both males and female's students. The results showed that there were no significant differences in the results between the two groups due to gender. By reference to the results of the study, the researcher recommends diversifying teaching strategies during lectures, especially by including the cooperative learning strategy by teaching soccer skills.
