Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper presents results of an interpretation and statistical analysis of two years of drilling data, concentrating on the effects change-of-scope (COS) operations have had on drilling performance and drilling performance evaluation. The analysis shows that COS activities do not accurately represent drilling performance, and that COS costs may unjustly influence conventional cost-related measurements of drilling performance.
