Abstract

Using the π-band tight-binding (TB) model and the multi-channel Laudauer–Büttiker formula, we analyzed how the uniaxial and torsional deformations affect the quantum interference in carbon nanotube electron resonators. It was found that the period of conductance oscillation decreases with increasing deformation. This phenomenon can be used for precisely measurement of nanoscale mechanical deformation in carbon nanotubes.
