Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the Social Network Services (SNS) addiction tendency, nursing informatics competency, information ethics index and perception on patient private information protection of nursing student. The data were collected 105 nursing students from February to April, 2022. According to the results, the mean SNS addiction tendency was 2.33 points out of 5, nursing informatics competency was 3.50 points out of 5, information ethics index was 3.88 points out of 5, and perception on patient private information protection was 4.12 points out of 5. There was a positive relation among nursing informatics competency, information ethics index, and perception on patient private information protection. And there are a negative relation between SNS addiction tendency and perception on patient private information protection. The explaining 56.7% of the variance, and the factors influencing nursing students’ perception of patient private information protection were grade and information ethics index. Therefore, it is necessary need to develop and adapt the ethical value education program for information protection management that can help nursing students increase their awareness of patient private information protecting.
