The effect of Tongzhi Su Runjiang tablet on rheumatoid arthritis patients and its effect on inflammatory factors and endothelial cell function

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Tongzhi Su Runjiang tablet on rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients and its effect on inflammatory factors and endothelial cell function. Methods ALL 100 RA patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group(50 cases in each group). While the patients of both groups were treated with the same anti-RA medicine for 6 months, patients of the experimental group were given Tongzhi Su Runjiang at the same time. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP), rheumatoid factor(RF), tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α), interleukin(IL) -1, serum vascular endothelial adhesion molecule-1(sVCAM-1), soluble cell adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1) and von Willebrand factor(vWF), and the therapeutic effect were measured after the treatment. Results Compared with the control group, the morning stiffness time, pain score, fatigue score, joint swelling, joint tenderness, DAS28, CRP, RF, ESR, TNF-α, IL-1, sVCAM-1, sICAM-1 had significantly decreased than those in the experimental group(all P<0.05). In the experimental group, the cases of ACR50 and ACR70 were significantly increased(P <0.05). Conclusion Tongzhi Su Runjiang tablet can significantly improve the condition of RA patients, and its mechanism may be involved in regulating the secretion of inflammatory factors and improving endothelial cell function.
