Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate how dance sports affects relationship, communication, and psychological happiness of cancer survivor couples. Using model of instruction, five cancer survivors and his or her spouse (a total of 10 participations) participated in this single-group study. The 6 week program was comprised of Latin dance ‘cha-cha-cha, twice a week. Surveys with self-administered questionnaires on couple relationship, communication, and psychological happiness were administered at baseline and after completion of the program. In depth interviews, observation and field notes were used to understand better on the result of quantitative results. Quantitative analysis showed that participation of the dance sports program significantly improved the third person related conflicts and psychological happiness.
