Abstract

Cogging torque is diminished by merging two stage optimizations even at magnet edge of the permanent magnet machine with concentrated slotting and pole arc optimization. Cogging torque is determined in any permanent magnet machine by the relationship that exists of magnetic flux in the rotor as well as the slot opening width in its stator core. Apparently, by constructing the permanent magnet machine's electromagnetic action suitably at the design stage, the cogging torque can be reduced.
