Abstract

This note is an extension of a paper published in this journal by Lucas (1) concerning distributed effects in thin-film planar capacitors. Lucas discussed his results in terms of the real and imaginary parts of the complex impedance. In this note the effect of frequency on the dissipation factor and equivalent series capacitance is determined and approximations made for certain frequency ranges, which enable the relevant capacitors parameters to be practically determined.
