Abstract

AbstractThe concentration of potato virus Y (PVY) in tubers after artificial break of dormancy by Rindite treatment at three different dates (September 8, November 10, and January 11) after harvest (August 25, 1983) was examined by enzyme‐linked immuno‐sorbent assay (ELISA). The increase of virus concentration was more rapid after the early Rindite treatment than after the later ones. The virus concentration observed after the second and the third treatment varied among the cultivars and reached maximum values considerably later than after the first treatment. There seems to be a direct effect of the Rindite treatment on PVY multiplication in tubers.
