Abstract

AbstractSynthetic lines of wheat were compared in order to determine the effect of the “D” genome on embryo induction and plant regeneration from anther culture. The experiments were performed using 6 genotypes of wheat in a randomized block design with 4 replications. In all cases except one, addition of the “D” genome from T. tauschii increased the efficiency of embryo formation and green plantlet production. This positive effect of the “D” genome does not exclude the existence of possible interactions between the three genomes (A, B and D) and/or the effect of each genome separately.
