Abstract

There are many factors affecting the performance of counter flow cooling towers, the air water ratio λ has a great influence on thermodynamic calculation and the performance of cooling tower in operation. At the standard operating conditions, λ=0.76 can meet the requirements of a counter flow cooling tower which the cooling water flow rate at 100T/h. With λ increases gradually, the outlet temperature of the cooling tower gradually declines in a slower and slower way. With the wet bulb temperature increases, the outlet temperature of cooling water increases gradually while the cooling efficiency is rising. This paper illustrates the value of λ varies with meteorological parameters of Jinan in July 2016 which meet the requirement of outlet water temperature at the same range of temperature. In the case of different meteorological parameters, the variations of λ are rather large. In operation, adopting the converter fan to change the air flow rate, we can realize energy conservation.
