Abstract

The three main corrections to the binding energy of nuclear matter that involve the Δ (1236) are calculated with exchange effects and realistic correlation functions. It is found that their net effect at K F = 1.36 fm −1 is small, but that their K F dependence has a considerable effect on the saturation density.
