The effect of tetrabutylammonium ion (Bu4N+) on the uncatalyzed bromate oscillator with phenol as substrate was monitored at 25 ± 0.1°C under stirred batch conditions. The changes in the oscillatory behaviour with increasing concentration of the Bu4N+ ions have been ascribed to their ability to act as ion-pairing reagent.
