Abstract
1. 1. Adult Diaptomus nevadensis containing large and small amounts of carotenoid pigment were exposed to 1.2mW/cm 2 of visible blue light at 8 and 20°C. 2. 2. Darkly pigmented copepods survived significantly longer than lightly pigmented copepods at both temperatures. 3. 3. Copepods survived longer at 8°C than at 20°C, in contrast to the results reported by investigators studying carotenoid photoprotection in bacteria.
