Abstract

Abstract In this research, we have investigated the effect of substitution of Ni for Co on structure and magnetostriction of the borides GdCo 4− x Ni x B ( x =1, 2 and 3) alloys. Negative magnetostriction at low temperature starts to decrease with increasing Ni concentration. Magnetostriction increases with applied field, but decreases with increasing temperature for all samples. These results are interpreted in terms of behavior of magnetization with temperature and applied field.
