Abstract
A recently developed testing technique for determining the interlaminar shear strength of laminated composites at impact rates of strain /1/ is described. Results are presented for the interlaminar shear strength at the interface between a) two woven glass plies, b) two woven carbon plies and c) a woven glass and a woven carbon ply at both a quasi-static and an impact rate of loading. In each case a significant increase in interlaminar strength at the impact rate is observed.
