Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of the present systematic review is to determine whether storytelling can reduce anxiety in children under 18 years of age in studies conducted in Iran. The present article was conducted using the systematic review method by examining 150 articles from electronic searches in databases. Out of the 14 articles reviewed in Iran between 2000 and 2020. Age and sex variables did not show a statistically significant effect on reducing anxiety. The results of twelve studies showed that the storytelling method alone is effective in reducing children's anxiety, and two articles that, in addition to the storytelling method, also used clay therapy and play therapy. Considering the effect of storytelling in reducing children's anxiety, it is recommended that storytelling be used as a new educational method starting from kindergartens and up to the secondary level in order to reduce children's anxiety.
