Abstract

Starvation of female Illex illecebrosus (Lesueur) in the laboratory leads to significant increases in weight and size of the ovary and the nidamental gland. Three factors are thought to be involved: 1. 1) size of the animal, 2. 2) date within the season of the experiment, and 3. 3) length of the starvation period.
