Abstract
AbstractIt has been repcrted that rapid solidification insproves the ductility of certain nickel aluminides. This work. was devised to test whether it gives addittinal improvement in a nickel aluminide containing both Fe and B. Small samples were solidified in free-fall or splat-quenced after free-fall. Their uicrostructure has been characterized, and the results of preliminary tests, which give a quantitative measure of mechanical properties, are discussed.
