Abstract

Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate whether social media has an impact on patient behaviors from the perspective of undergraduate students of the health sciences faculty of a university in Istanbul and to interpret the results. Method: In the research, quantitative analysis method was preferred as the data collection tool and questionnaire method was used to reach the data. The questionnaire used in the study was formed from the questions of Terkan and Saygılı's study titled Etk The Impact of Marketing on Social Media on Young People ındaki in 2017. The universe of the research consists of 573 undergraduate students studying in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Occupational Health and Safety and Health Management within a faculty university health sciences faculty located in Istanbul. The sample of the study is 221 students in total. In the study, the data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 program. Descriptive statistical methods, frequency and descriptive analyzes were used in the evaluation of the data. In order to test the reliability of this study, reliability analysis was applied to all variables and Cronbach Alpha coefficient was calculated as 0.811. Findings: When the distribution of the licensees participating in the study is examined according to departments, 41% of the licensees are nursing, 33% health management, 18% physiotherapy and rehabilitation, 6% nutrition and dietetics, 2% occupational health and safety. According to the findings of the study, 37.6% of the licensors partially agree and 25.8% agree that the social media sharing networks provide important information to the patients by making the hospital information transparent. 41.6% of the licensors agree and 29% partially agree that social sharing networks should be followed regularly in service preference. 44.8% of the licensors agree and 26.7% agree that ve services and services provide access to a large mass of patients Sosyal with social networks. With social media sharing networks, 33.5% of the licensors agree and 27.1% partially agree that the patients are affected by the popular hospitals. 43% of the licensors agree and 25.8% agree that the social networking networks strengthen the connection between the patient and the hospital. Patients considered social media sharing networks as the most important source of information in the process of receiving services and 35.7% of the licensors partially agreed and 29% disagreed. Results: As in the field of social media communication, health has also led to significant changes. Social media, used by healthy people, patients and health professionals to communicate on health-related issues, has brought a different dimension to the field of health. As a result of the research, licensors perceive that patients are highly affected by the popular hospitals through social media and that hospitals increase the mass of patients by using social media. However, they believe that the patients use their social networks to gather information about the hospital and they regularly monitor the health services provided. According to the licensors, it is highly stated that social media sharing networks create attitude and behavior changes in the desired direction for the patient.
