Abstract

Summary The effectiveness of participation in an interethnic contact situation which took the form of an activity group program in inducing positive ethnic attitudes was evaluated. The changes in attitudes of 93 White South African adolescent girls and 65 Colored South African adolescent girls were studied. The activity program promoted a positive change in the attitudes of White girls towards Colored girls and of Colored girls towards White girls. The positive change was greater for Colored girls than it was for White girls.
