Abstract

Simple Shear Extrusion is a recently designed Severe Plastic Deformation procedure capable of obtaining nanostructured materials. The effect of the number of passes on the copper sample has been investigated. Through tensile test and Scanning Electron Microscopy mechanical properties and grain size have been investigated. According to the Hall-Petch equation the yield strength (138–198 MPa) and microhardness (74–128 HV) of the annealed sample of copper after each pass of the SSE increased by reducing the grain size (39–16 µm).
